Lucas Dupuy: The language of Art

Lucas Dupuy joined my collection back in 2017 when, again, my good friend Oli Epp introduced me to his work at City and Guilds of London Art School graduation show. While I was having a chat with Oli, he said "Hey Cat, come and let me introduce you to Lucas Dupuy. His work is incredible" . And there he was this young man surrounded by his paintings.

While I was trying to understand the meaning of these perfectly executed shapes on his canvases ,Lucas then came and explained the idea behind his work: Dyslexia

Having problems with his own language, the frustration accumulated throughout the years pushed him to explore the subject more and more within his own work. I was fascinated with what I was hearing while I was lost visually in his paintings. I knew I had to have one of his works so I made the decision of buying a canvas right there and then.

To understand Lucas Dupuy work it's important to understand his mind:

I have been really interested in hieroglyphics, the use of symbols within the language is really interesting and relates back to understanding my own language.”
